Your characters starting age depends on two factors - class and race. When entering the World of Charun, the character will have had years of practice in his chosen trade behind him. Perhaps he grew up in a barbarian culture, or sailed with the buccaneers for five years picking up the skills of a rogue? He could have grown up in a family of hunters, learning the trade of the ranger, or spent years as an apprentice to a wizard. A level one character is thus not inexperienced in a way a commoner is. It takes time to learn a trade well enough to turn it into a profession.

Calculating Starting Age

Most aspiring to learn a trade begin their training upon reaching young adulthood, which is 14 years of age for humans. The different classes require various amounts of time to master to the degree that the first level is attained, while races with longer lifespans than humans tend to slow down the learning period. The guide below is meant to give you, the player, an idea around the possible minimum age of your character.


Dwarf

  • Barbarian: 40, Must grow up in the culture
  • Bard: 60 + 2d8
  • Cleric: 60 + 4d4
  • Druid: 60 + 4d4
  • Fighter: 40 + 2d8
  • Paladin: 50 + 2d8
  • Ranger: 80 + 2d8
  • Rogue: 60 + 4d4
  • Savage: 40, Must grow up in the culture
  • Sorcerer: 80 + 2d8
  • Warlock: 80 + 2d8
  • Wizard: 90 + 4d20


Elf
